Recomendación del día- II: "Lo más cerca que estuve del paraíso" Alberto García-Alix

No he podido escribir esta entrada hasta hoy, ya que he tenido la cámara de fotos enterrada entre mis cosas a causa de mi reciente mudanza a Barcelona. Las fotografías son de la inauguración de una increíble exposición que tuvo lugar en el Museo Baluard de Arte Moderno de Palma. El fotógrafo que exponía - y sigue exponiendo - es Alberto García-Alix, premio nacional de fotografía y valoradísmo artista español. Sus trabajos han sido admirados en publicaciones como Vogue o Vanity Fair, entre otras. Fue un personaje destacado de la movida madrileña, amigo de mi padre (gracias a él he podido conocerle en persona) y autor de poderosas imágenes de este movimiento cultural. La exposición estará disponible hasta el 9 de enero en la que se exhibirán 58 fotografías en blanco y negro realizadas en Mallorca, Ibiza y Formentera durante los años 1994 y 2010. Os recomiendo totalmente que os paséis por ahí los que viváis en Mallorca y los que no - si tenéis la oportunidad de parar por ahí durante esas fechas- también. Aquí os dejo unas cuantas instantáneas, espero que os gusten. (Disculpas por la calidad de algunas fotos, intenté que no se reflejara demasiado en el cristal.. pero se hace lo que se puede).

I could not write this post until today, because I had my camera completely buried in my stuff because of my recent move to Barcelona. The pictures are from an incredible opening exhibition at the Baluard Museum of Modern Art in Palma. The photographer who exposed - and continues to exposing - is Alberto Garcia-Alix, national photography award and recognized spanish artist. His work have been admired in magazines like Vogue or Vanity Fair, among others. He was a leading figure of the Madrid scene ("Movida madrileña"), a friend of my father (thanks to him I could meet him in person) and author of powerful images of this cultural movement. The exhibition will be available until January 9th and 58 photographs are displayed in black and white made in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera between 1994 and 2010. I highly recommend you to go and visit if you live in Mallorca or if you have the opportunity to stop by there during those dates. Here you have a few snapshots, I hope you like them. (Apologies for the quality of some photos, I tried not to reflect too much on the glass .. but I tried to do my best!).

Wonderful collections of CMFW

Nuestra semana de la moda también tiene cosas tan maravillosas que la hacen fácilmente comparable con las grandes, como la de París o Milán. No he podido acudir a los desfiles de esta última edición ya que acostumbro a hacerlo en Febrero para las temporadas de Otoño/Invierno pero no me perdido ni un detalle de lo que ha ocurrido sobre la pasarela a través de blogs, webs y televisión. Como os decía, Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week cuenta con gente llena de talento y buen gusto... y si no mirad las colecciones de Primavera/Verano 2011 de mis dos preferidas de esta edición: Maria Escoté y Lydia Delgado.

Our Fashion Week has so many wonderful things and has nothing to envy of the Paris and Milan fashion weeks thanks to its fabolous collections. I couldn't go to the fashion shows of this latest edition as I use to go on February for the Fall/Winter season but I haven't missed any detail of everything happened on the catwalk thanks to blogs, websites and tv. As I told you guys, Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week has people full of talent and exquisite taste... and if you don't believe me just take a look at Maria Escoté and Lydia Delgado's last collections. My favorites without doubt.

Esta increíble colección es para comprarla y llevártela entera a casa. Me encantan los detalles de las perlas enormes y los imperdibles en la mayoría de las prendas. El cuero y la piel son fantásticos al igual que los colores elegidos por la diseñadora: rojos, dorados, negros, rosa palo y azul... todo con un toque brillante original y atrevido.

This amazing collection is perfect to buy all the items and take them home with you! I love all the details, the huge pearls and safety pins on most garments. The leather and skins are fantastic as the colours chosen by the desginer: red, gold, black, pale pink and blue... everything with a brilliant and original touch.

Lydia Delgado siempre revisa sus clásicos e iconos: el negro y los lazos. Preciosos vestidos largos para la noche y aires marineros para el día. No podía faltar el conjunto de culotte y sujetador que se supera cada temporada y las perlas al cuello. El color azul celeste es perfecto para cualquier ocasión.

Lydia Delgado always check her classics and icon masterpieces: black and bows. Beautiful night-long dresses and navy for the day. You couldn't miss the cullotte and bra ensemble which overcomes season by season and the pearl necklaces. The blue color is also perfect for any ocassion.

Ayer decía que daba la bienvenida a Septiembre con los brazos abiertos pero al volver a ver estas fotos me entra mucha nostalgia de que las vacaciones estén a punto de terminar. Este fin de semana cojo un avión a Barcelona y me quedo allí unos días... últimos días de relax antes de empezar a empaquetar y hacer maletas para volver a la Condal a instalarme... DEPRESIÓN! hahaha! Bueno, aprovecho esta entrada también para dejaros a todos los que aún no lo sepáis, de forma muy gráfica, una de las noticias más importantes de este 2010. En el mundo de la moda, claro está. Con las palabras de Alber Elbaz no hay nada más que decir.

Here you have the latest pics of August, the best month of this summer 2010! Yesterday I said that I was opening my arms completely to September but looking at this photos I get a lot of nostalgia that holidays are almost over. This weekend I get a plane to Barcelona and I'll stay there a few days ( my last relaxing days ) before start packing to return to Barcelona to settle... Depression! hahaha! Well, I take this entry to let those who still don't know, in a very graphic way, one of the most important news of this year 2010. In the fashion world, of course. In the words of Alber Elbaz... there's nothing left to say.
